Last blog post of the year

Wow! The year is pretty much over. This year has been interesting. I remember first walking in to your class and seeing all my friends only to not even sit with them and mainly spend most of the time quiet, and to myself. I had never liked English until I was in your class. You made English actually interesting and also fun not something that’s forced and lame. Im really bummed out you’re moving, because you’re honestly my favorite teacher. Thanks to you I’ve gained a new found love for litterateur, poetry, and writing. I’ve also change a lot physically. From the hair to my height and weight. I’m more mature and wiser due to some dumb mistakes I did during the year. My relationship with my girlfriend has grown stronger through the year as well. In all I believe it was a very good year and I grew a lot.

Any topic

As this year come to its final moments I would just like to write about some of the most fun experiences I have had as a sophomore aka “the best class”. I’ve made a lot of fun and exciting memories this year with some new people. The people I have met this year are some of the greatest people you’ll ever meet.

My favorite memorie is this year is by far the nature trip. The nature trip has been one of the most interesting and fun things I have ever done. Exploring the woods and being with friends made the experience ten times better. My favorite memorie of the trip is going past the creek we weren’t supposed to cross.

The football games are a highlight for any persons year. The crowds, friends, and games give life to a seemingly lifeless stadium. Pep rally’s are a big thing too even though I only went to one this year. I can’t wait until next years games.

Lastly is my love/hate relationship with soccer. Man, I really like soccer but it takes up so much of my time especially next year when I actually make it to varsity. I’m on a club team, and it has made me spends lost of time on the fields rather than with my friends. I really enjoy soccer but the time it takes away from me is sometimes too much. In all I really enjoy the sport.

Cellphone wars

As a student I’ll try to make this solution as unbiased as I can. While although using your cellphone while the teacher is trying to teach is not acceptable. I think you should be able to use your phone at any other time. For example, if theres a worksheet that the teacher gives us, we should be able to be on our phone. Most of my teacher when we’re just doing busy work get on their social media, and constantly nag us about checking a text we got.

My solution is letting the kids use their phone at all times except for when the teacher is trying to teach. Most of the time teachers are really tired and just want to get done with the day so give kids busy work. That’s fine but we should be able to use our phone. I’m sure I’ve come up with a valid solution. It’s a win-win for every one.

Nature journal 3

Tuesday April 2nd 5:10 pm. Not much has changed since I was last here. The grass seems taller but that’s about it.  It rained a couple days ago and although the mud may seem wet, it is extremely hard. There’s lots of weeds growing in the area. The bird chirps sound faint and distant. It’s a little windy but nothing that can’t be handled. It’s a sunny day, I remember when I came here for the first time the sky was dark and gloomy and it was around this time. These types of days are some of my favorites and e.e Cummings puts theses days as “I thank you god for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.” The quote make me realize how beautiful nature is and how we need to preserve it if we want it continue to be beautiful. As I’m walking around exploring the area I see cigar packs and ziplock bags and it really hurts me to see people smoking weed and just throwing it on the ground polluting the place. They could atletas be smart about it and keep it with them and throw it away somewhere else. The laughter of the kids worries me because what if they were to stumble across this. As I’m walking out I see a huge hole being dug out and makes me wonder what other type of mysterious stuff is in this place.3494B5AC-9773-4E57-B569-D180CD1F0E70.jpeg

Nature journal 2

It is March 21 and time is 4:30. It is a sunny day in the beginning of spring and a lot has changed since I was last here. As I sit here and look at how everything is much more different, I start to think of a quote once said by the great Aristotle “ In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.”  All the dead leaves have been replaced with new ones and all the mud puddles that had been here have been dried up. The chirps of the birds around me make it a more relaxed visit. I hear the cracking of dead leafs getting stepped on from every direction. I wonder what animals are out doing that noise. Last time I was here the whole place was quiet and only a few birds could be heard. I hear the voice of little kids that stay in the houses nearby and how they enjoy playing with their parents. I hear the sound of people playing basketball off in the distance. A rabbit seems to be close to me it seems to be running away from something. The mosquito population has exploted since the last time I was here. The hut I had encountered on my last visit has unfortunately been destroyed leaving only a trace of what it had used to be. The warmer weather seems to encourage more animals to come out and look for food. On my way out I see a large decomposed tree trunk and looks completely shattered in a million pieces and I wonder what could’ve caused it to have done that. It appears I have stayed enough to where the mosquitos are starting to like me, next time I’ll bring some bug repellent.CC96ED16-6D4E-4BC3-86C2-AA563759D6E0

Nature journal

The place I chose to go to is the bike trails in Brothers Pond. As a wise man once said “I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and put my senses in order”(Burroughs) and that is exactly what happened while I was writing this nature prompt. I found the bike trails when I was in 8th grade accedently whilst playing hide and seal. The spot I chose is about 1/3 of the way into the trails. There is a slight depression right on the spot and only measures a couple of feet. I came to explore on March 2nd and in this particular day it is a dark, gloomy day. The ground under me is soft and mushy because of the rain earlier today. While exploring around, I saw a large decaying trea branch, as I lifted up the branch. I saw a insects of all sizes and colors. There was a worm that if I had not seen it crawling on the ground, I would’ve thought it was a gummy worm. The worm was a light shade of maroon with pasty white. There were also tiny thermites picking away at the decaying wood. I witnessed the fight between an insect I had never seen before and a spider. The spider would fiercely bite the other insect but the other insect would not go down without a fight and would jab its tail into the spider, as the dust settled the insect had won. The dark sky and the whistling that was formed from the slight breeze hitting the trees was giving this place a very melancholy feel. Last time I was at Brothers Pond was last year in the middle of spring. That day was a very sunny, humid, and joyful day. Squirrels were out scavaging for food, birds were singing their beautiful songs, and the vegetation was blooming and full of life. I can’t wait until the last journal prompt to see how much this place has changed. Shortly after packing everything up and walking out of the bike trails, I see a small hut surrounded by fences in a path that splits from the main trail. The hut seemed to have been housed by someone. Fortunately no one had been there while I was writing my journal but I did feel a little courageous that day and decided to investigate the place. As I slowly approached the hut my heart was pounding so hard I could hear it. There was a cap on top of the hut and a Gatorade bottle which I thought was interesting. I took a couple of pictures and  left the area. I was full of excitement, and decided to explore the rest of the trials and that’s what I did. I explored for another 2 hours before I decided to leave.

What grinds my gears

Something that really grindes my gears is when people chew gum but they don’t close their mouth when they eat it. I understand that chewing gum isn’t a very quiet thing to do but you don’t have to let the whole world know that you’re chewing gum. Whenever people smack in general is extremely annoying mostly because I have to hear them eating but also because they open their mouth and show you what they’re eating. In all something that really grinds my gears is that people smack when they eat.

Another thing that grindes my gears is when people with big trucks feel the need to show off their Diesel engines. It’s annoying when people rev their engine because they think it’s cool but it’s not it’s so annoying. Whenever people show off their engines they make so much smoke and it smells horrible and stinks up the place. The other problem is that all that smoke goes up to the atmosphere and polluts the air. In all I think those people are annoying and not cool.

(Sorry for this being late)

Nickname

I only have 1 nickname and it’s what my grandparents call me. They call me güero because when I was a baby I had a really white skin tone and it just kinda stuck. Güero means white in English and it’s also a name that they call my uncle because he was also really white when he was born. I like the name though because it has meaning to it.

Its a nickname that’s private. Only my grandparents are allowed to say it. I wish it had a funny story behind but no it’s just because i was born a really white. I eventually darkened out and would still be confused as to why they still called me that and I found out that once a nickname is given to you it’s really hard to get rid of it.

Something I’d die for

This question is a hard one because there is no simple “yes” or “no” answer to it. Some people can say “yes” but until you’re actually put in that situation it’s a whole different story. Every person no mater how strong you may think you are is afraid of something, for most people is death. I don’t necessarily fear death, the death of a loved one is in my head often. To answer the question, no I do not believe in anything I would die for.

I have beliefs and ideas I would go to great lengths to protect but not to the point of death. This all might change due to events that the future hold but as of now, no. There’s nothing I believe in strongly about that would lead me to dying. Things are still entirely hypothetical because it’s more of a you have to be in that situation to have a for sure answer.

Reflection over my first semester

I had an amazing first semester. My grades are looking good and I’m not super stressed. My teachers are amazing other than a couple exceptions, but Goodwyn is my favorite by far. With Mrs. Wilson being a close second. I’ve done and turned in everything on time except for this blog post because I completely forgot about it.

I’ve made a ton of new friends and even started hanging out with old friends again! My girlfriend and I couldn’t be better. It’s a lot easier to go from class to class than freshman year. In general I don’t think I could have had a better first semester.
